REGIONAL CONSENT RULES

# Consent rules that follow the visitor

Inth Consent works out where each visitor is and applies the policy for that place. Visitors only see a banner where a policy asks for one, and it appears in their own language.

Europe Opt-In: Opt-in consent for EEA and UK visitors.

California Opt-Out: Opt-out consent for California visitors.

California Opt-In: Opt-in consent with a banner for California visitors.

Quebec Law 25: Opt-in consent for Québec visitors.

## The rules change at the border. Your banner follows.

Inth Consent works out where a visitor is and applies the law that covers them. Opt-in places hold tags back until the visitor says yes. Opt-out places run them until the visitor says no.

10 jurisdictions

- European Union and EEA (GDPR, opt-in, Europe Opt-In): Analytics and ads stay off until the visitor accepts. Covers AT, BE, BG, HR, CY, CZ, DK, EE, FI, FR, DE, GR, HU, IE, IT, LV, LT, LU, MT, NL, PL, PT, RO, SK, SI, ES, SE, IS, LI, NO.
- United Kingdom (UK GDPR, opt-in, Europe Opt-In): Analytics and ads stay off until the visitor accepts. Covers GB.
- Switzerland (FADP, opt-in): Only necessary cookies run until the visitor accepts. Covers CH.
- Québec (Law 25, opt-in, Quebec Law 25): Nothing optional loads until the visitor accepts. Covers CA-QC.
- Brazil (LGPD, opt-in): Only necessary cookies run until the visitor accepts. Covers BR.
- Japan (APPI, opt-in): Only necessary cookies run until the visitor accepts. Covers JP.
- South Korea (PIPA, opt-in): Only necessary cookies run until the visitor accepts. Covers KR.
- California (CCPA, opt-out, California Opt-Out): Tags run until the visitor opts out. A Global Privacy Control signal counts as an opt-out. Covers US-CA.
- Canada (PIPEDA, opt-out): Tags run from the first page view until the visitor opts out. Covers CA.
- Australia (Privacy Act, opt-out): Tags run from the first page view until the visitor opts out. Covers AU.

## See what each visitor gets.

Pick a region to see the banner, its buttons and what runs before a choice. In California, a browser’s Global Privacy Control signal counts as an opt-out.

- EU and UK (Europe Opt-In, opt-in): Analytics and ads stay off until the visitor accepts.
- California (California Opt-Out, opt-out): Tags run until the visitor opts out. A Global Privacy Control signal counts as an opt-out.
- Québec (Quebec Law 25, opt-in): Nothing optional loads until the visitor accepts.
- Everywhere else (No regional policy, none): No banner. Tags load as you configured them.

### Which laws does it cover?

Inth Consent recognises the GDPR, UK GDPR, Switzerland’s FADP, Brazil’s LGPD, Canada’s PIPEDA, Québec’s Law 25, California’s CCPA, Australia’s Privacy Act, Japan’s APPI and South Korea’s PIPA. Each one decides whether that visitor gets opt-in or opt-out rules.

### What is the difference between opt-in and opt-out?

Under opt-in rules, analytics and marketing stay off until the visitor accepts. That covers the GDPR, UK GDPR, Switzerland, Brazil, Japan, South Korea and Québec. Under opt-out rules, those tags can run until the visitor says no. That covers California, the rest of Canada and Australia.

### How does it know where a visitor is?

It reads the country, and where it matters the state or province, from the request that loads the banner. It then checks your policies from top to bottom and uses the first one that fits. If the location can’t be read, a fallback policy applies.

### What happens when a browser sends Global Privacy Control?

In California the signal counts as an opt-out of sale and sharing. Marketing and analytics stay off for that visitor without them touching the banner.

### Can we set our own rule for one country?

Yes. Turn on a ready-made policy such as Europe Opt-In or California Opt-Out, or create your own. Policies run from top to bottom, so a policy for one country can sit above the regional one.

### Can each region have its own wording and language?

Yes. Each policy can carry its own banner wording, and c15t shows the banner in the visitor’s browser language from its 30+ built-in translations.

### Do you keep proof of each choice?

Yes. Each consent record shows the visitor’s choice, their country and the policy that applied.

### Is this legal advice?

No. Inth Consent applies the policies you choose. Your legal team decides which rules your business follows.
